Academic strengths
The University offers a wide range of subjects in the following departments: Art and Design, Built Environment, Business School, Centre for Materials and Innovation, Computing and Electronic Technology, Cultural and Creative Studies, Education, Engineering and Design, Health and Social Studies, Psychology and Life Sciences, and Sport, Leisure and Tourism Management. Courses are offered at Foundation, HND, undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Many courses have a February and September start date. Student with appropriate qualifications (including English Language) and personal qualities may gain access to the second or third year of the undergraduate programme.

Our up-to-the-minute understanding of what employers expect from graduates is reflected in the accreditation of our courses by more than 20 professional bodies.

Facilities
We have two Halls of Residence, convenient for the University and the town centre. All rooms are self-catering and fully-furnished with single study bedrooms with internet connections.

Shared kitchen facilities mean you soon meet fellow students living in Halls. Both Halls can accommodate students with additional needs.

As a Halls resident you can be sure that if there are any problems, help is at hand. There’s plenty of free car parking. The cost of a single room in the Halls of Residence works out at approximately £57* per week. This cost is inclusive and there are no hidden charges.

The University’s Learning Support Centres give you access to all the books, computing and media resources you need to study successfully.

There are more than 20 open-access computer rooms and group study rooms, with about 500 PCs available for use. Our 24-hour computer room ensures that you can complete your work at whatever time suits you.

Student life
The University has a large Sports Centre housing a multi-court sports hall, a climbing wall and a gym with a range of cardio-vascular equipment and free weights.

Bolton offers you a wide range of entertainment, such as bars, clubs and places to eat. You can enjoy international fare - superb Balti houses, Thai, Japanese, Mediterranean, as well as traditional fish and chips and even a good old Sunday Roast.

There are multiplex cinemas, theatres and if you like watching football, there’s the famous Bolton Wanderers. There are shopping malls, department stores, speciality shops and the local market - and Manchester is only a 15 minutes train ride.
